SHIPMENT OF GOODS WITH SUITABLE SHIPPING BOXES
What is a consignment of goods?
The goods shipment is Deutsche Post's smart shipping solution for anyone who regularly sends small items - affordable, simple and reliable. Perfect for lightweight items such as jewellery, spare parts, accessories or promotional items.
Unlike small parcels or packages, there are fixed dimensions and weight limits, but you save money on every shipment. Important: Only goods are permitted, no letters or documents.
To ensure that your shipment can be transported without any problems, the following guidelines apply:
- Minimum dimensions: 10 cm (length) × 7 cm (width)
- Maximum dimensions: 35.3 cm (length) × 25 cm (width) × 5 cm (height)
- Weight: up to 1,000 g (standard) or up to 2,000 g with weight surcharge
In short: with goods shipments, you can deliver small products to your customers safely and cost-effectively - ideal for anyone who doesn't want to pay more than necessary for shipping.
Advantages of shipping goods for businesses
For many companies, shipping goods is worthwhile, especially in online retail or when regularly shipping small products.
Your advantages at a glance:
- Cost-effective: Lower postage costs than for small parcels or packages.
- Flexible: No minimum quantities or weights.
- Simple: send directly via the post office or letterbox.
- Practical: Ideal for jewellery, spare parts, promotional items or small accessories.
What type of packaging is permitted for shipping goods?
There are clear rules for packaging: Deutsche Post only allows certain formats and types of packaging for goods shipments. The shipment must be easy to open and reseal.
Our LESER shipping boxes score points here with a clever system: all our shipping boxes have an integrated tear-off tab and a self-adhesive sealing strip. This makes packing and opening particularly easy - without the need for additional adhesive tape. The recipient can open the box cleanly and safely without tools and reseal it immediately if necessary.

Frequently asked questions
A parcel may be no larger than 35.3 × 25 × 5 cm and weigh up to 1,000 g (up to 2,000 g with a weight surcharge). Deutsche Post sets clear limits for this:
- Minimum dimensions: 10 cm (length) × 7 cm (width)
- Maximum dimensions: 35.3 cm (length) × 25 cm (width) × 5 cm (height)
- Weight: up to 1,000 g (standard) or up to 2,000 g with a weight surcharge
This means that this delivery method remains one of the most cost-effective options for small, lightweight items such as jewellery, accessories or spare parts.
A ‘Großbrief’ and a ‘Maxibrief’ are Deutsche Post’s postal services for documents, records or written materials, not for goods.
- Large letter: up to 500 g, maximum 35.3 × 25 × 2 cm
- Maxi letter: up to 1,000 g, maximum 35.3 × 25 × 5 cm
