PLASTIC PACKAGING
Injection moulding.
Step by step.
Injection moulding turns plastic granulate into precisely fitting packaging. This is how LESER manufactures its uncoated packaging at its own factory in Lahr in the Black Forest, fully automated and in a matter of seconds.
This is how plastic packaging is made in 4 steps:
- Heating the granulate: The plastic granulate is heated until it melts completely.
- Injecting under pressure: The liquid mass is pressed into a precisely fitting mould under high pressure.
- Cooling and hardening: As it cools, the material hardens in the mould.
- Demoulding: The mould opens and the finished part drops out.
For every part to be dimensionally accurate, temperature, pressure and cooling time must work together precisely. This means almost any shape and size can be produced, from classic cases to special plastic packaging. And all with very little material waste.

Standard is a thing of the past. With its extensive pool of moulds, LESER offers you a wide choice of shapes, sizes, series and colours, tailored to jewellery, watches, coins, medals and decorations.
Do you want your packaging to be truly unique? No problem. Above a minimum quantity, LESER produces it in your chosen colour. This turns functional LESER packaging into a brand ambassador, as distinctive as your brand.
Customer reference: Fink Orfebres
For Fink Orfebres, a renowned manufacturer of high-quality jewellery, LESER has developed bespoke plastic packaging: a white box made of bio-based plastic whose main raw material is derived 100% from maize starch, with an elegant logo print and a QR code on the lid.
The clear shape and elegant look underline the brand's premium standards. The QR code links the packaging directly to the digital content of Fink Orfebres.
Plastic packaging made from recycled plastic
Plastic can be kept in a material cycle. LESER makes use of this in its own production in 3 ways:
- 100% recycled plastic: The 1700 FUTURA series is made from 100% recycled plastic. On request, LESER also develops bespoke rPET solutions for your brand.
- Scrap is reused: Sprues and defective parts from injection moulding are shredded in-house and reused as material, usually for subsequent batches in a different colour.
- Return to production: Production scrap is not disposed of but returned to the next production run as raw material.
Packaging made from corn starch
With the 1560 EARTH series, LESER offers packaging made from bio-based plastic. The main raw material of this plastic is derived 100% from maize starch.
The material is not suitable for household organic waste or home composting.
This makes the series an option for brands that want to choose a bio-based plastic for their packaging.
Packaging without coating
LESER packaging without coating is made of pure injection-moulded plastic, with no additional finishing layer. It is particularly popular in the jewellery industry and for coins, medals and decorations.
Why choose packaging without coating:
- Clean design: Nothing distracts, your product takes centre stage.
- Your choice of colour: LESER produces many standard sizes in your colour, subject to a product-specific minimum quantity.
- Made in Germany: Each of these packages is made at LESER's own factory in Lahr in the Black Forest. For you, this means short distances and direct coordination.
Packaging with coating
LESER's coated plastic packaging has a sturdy plastic core covered with high-quality materials such as imitation leather or metallic surfaces. It is manufactured in the Far East and therefore offers excellent value for money.
The range includes the 5510 series with classic sharp-corner boxes, the 5520 STRAIGHT series with inner silk and cover each made from 100% recycled material, and the 5530 series with a metallic look. There are also round formats in the 5920 ROUND series and innovative designs in the FRAME series, which is also suitable for creative presentations outside the world of jewellery.

questions
Yes. The 1700 FUTURA series is made from 100% recycled plastic, and in the 5520 STRAIGHT series the inner silk and the cover are each made from 100% recycled material. On request, LESER also develops bespoke solutions with recycled material or bio-based plastic.
Bio-based plastics are made entirely or partly from plant-based raw materials, for example maize starch, sugar cane, wood fibres or vegetable oils. The main difference from conventional plastics lies in the raw material base: plant-based raw materials replace fossil raw materials such as crude oil entirely or in part. An important distinction: 'bio-based' and 'biodegradable' are two different properties that do not necessarily occur together. A bio-based plastic does not have to be biodegradable and vice versa. The material of the LESER 1560 EARTH series: the main raw material of the plastic used is derived 100% from maize starch. It is not suitable for household organic waste or home composting.
The process is precise and fast: parts are produced in seconds and are dimensionally accurate. At LESER, sprues and defective parts are shredded and reused as material. Because injection moulding runs fully automated at the company's own factory in the Black Forest, the distance between coordination and production is short.
